Marketing your book without social media

Even before I started my current social media break, I have been thinking about marketing without social media. How I can do more of it, and how I can help my author clients to do it more.

It’s not that I don’t think social media sells books. I have seen first hand that it can, and does. However, the constantly changing algorithms mean that even just reaching the people who want to hear from you, isn’t as straightforward as that should be. On Instagram, I’ve also witnessed several accounts which have been deleted without cause or notice, and which have taken weeks to get back up and running. Having another way to reach readers feels increasingly essential for authors.

What I want you to know is that social media is not the only way to do this. Any type of marketing takes persistence and effort, but you can build an audience and promote your book without social media. Or you can make social media a smaller part of your marketing, and focus your attention elsewhere.

If you’re wondering how you do it, I’ve got two resources for you:

  1. I’ve created a brand new freebie, where I list out 40 ways to promote your book online without social media, which you can download here.
  2. Sign up for Leonie Dawson’s brilliant workshop*, where she talks about how she promotes her business without it. The course also comes with a download with 150+ of on- and offline ways to grow your audience without social media.
