It’s a new year. I love New Year’s Day with all its connotations of fresh starts and setting goals and resolutions. I’ve been absolutely loving reading all the goals and plans set out by some of my fellow bloggers!
I’ve been spending a fair amount of time reading these and reading LOADS of ‘tips for bloggers’ posts,to try to freshen things up here for the new year. I have a new header! A new more Pinterest-friendly image template! And a new sidebar! The sidebar was a right faff, so I’m hoping to share a tutorial on how I set it up sometime soon. I may also pull together a post of the most useful blog posts about blogging (so meta): there are a fair few useless ones out there, but also some really invaluable advice!
Of course, the main thing that has been on my mind is the impending baby arrival! My due date has come and gone, so we’re not just waiting it out to see when it decides to arrive. Apparently I was 8 days late – due on the 28th of December and arriving on the 5th of January, in which case maybe it will follow a similar pattern and get here on the 7th. I don’t really mind when it arrives, but feel like I’m in a bit of stasis, not knowing what I can actually plan to do beforehand!
In the meantime, here are a few interesting links I’ve come across over the last week as well as my regular reading update…
- I’m still reading Dominion by CJ Samson. I’m really enjoying it – it’s incredibly gripping – but it’s remarkable how much less I read when I don’t have a long commute every day! I’ve only been reading 3-4 chapters a night, and this is a heck of a big book, so it’s taking much longer to read than I’m used to!
- Bon Apetit’s Food Lovers’ Cleanse starts today. They always have some great recipes, so worth checking out.
- Deliciously Ella’s guide to getting healthy in the new year is great for anyone with that resolution in mind.
- This is definitely my favourite round up of 2014 – Pinch of Yum’s recipe fails!
- Jay from Serial shares his side of the story. Which is completely different from the story he shared with the police, which is completely different to the story he shared at trial.
- I ordered some business cards using my new header branding. I figured I need some for Blogtacular in June! If you want some too, you can get 10% off at Moo using this link.
PS
Love the new look! x
Thanks Siobhan. Looks like the Christmas break was spent designing for both of us!
Need that tutorial on the sidebar! We don’t even have a twitter button!
