Yesterday, I met up with my boss to talk about my return to work. It’s not for a while yet, but I wanted to get my days organised so that I could a) know what I’m doing and put it out if my mind and b) register Theo for nursery. I know where I want him to go, and it’s soooo convenient and really lovely, too, so definitely want to make sure he gets a place!
Since having Theodore, I definitely have a newfound respect for working mums. Especially those with more than one baby. How do you get out of the house on time in the mornings with make-up on, hair done, in a smart (clean!) outfit? I’m legit impressed by myself every time I manage it. And I only have one small, relatively easy baby to handle! What happens when they start having their own agenda!? Scary thought. Exciting, to, though.
This week has also been AMAZING weather wise. We had two picnics on Tooting Common. This is the best time of year when it’s nice. Beautiful sunshine, warm weather, lovely flowers and new green leaves, but no hay fever! Win. This summer will be another without medication, due to the breastfeeding. Grim. Really not looking forward to it. If anyone has any suggestions for medicine free remedies, send them my way!
What have you been doing this week? I’ve also been:
- Watching the new season of Game of Thrones! I really love this show and this is the first year since I started watching that I haven’t had to work like a crazy person all Monday and then work during the episode (I am usually the marketing person for the books!), so it’s been pretty awesome to just watch and enjoy the show, without knowing what was going to happen!
- Finishing Beautiful Ruins. If you’re looking for a new book, I HIGHLY recommend it. The characters are wonderful.mo absolutely loved it. The kind of book you don’t want to end.
- Starting Station Eleven. There’s a flu outbreak that is deadly and very very contagious, and it’s making me feel anxious.
- Loving the #AprilLove2015 instagram challenge.
- These Yelp reviews of newborn babies made me laugh so hard. You mean they don’t come with instructions!?
- My cousin’s app made the Daily Mail! Comments aren’t very friendly but then, when are they on the Daily Hate Mail
Ah it’s a constantly guilt battle being a working mum but surreal how quickly you make the transition from maternity leave which is just all-encompassing mum life to then learning to keep switching hats when you’re back in working life. Full-time work, however, totally stinks! 🙁 x
It’s going to a shock to the system, for sure!
The answers to your first question is that working mums of two get even less sleep and you have to be ridiculously organised to start with, but then it becomes normal and you just do it automatically!
So amazing what you realise you can do, isn’t it?
