The week that was: Week 8

It’s been a pretty quiet week this week. After a busy weekend (up to Newcastle and back for my sister-in-law’s hen do), it’s been all about chilling out at home and relaxing. I’ve done a lot of cooking, eating and reading this week. It’s been really nice! I also discovered the #PantryChat twitter chat on Tuesday evenings – definitely joining in with this again next week!

I did go out last night, to see my friend Louise and her little baby. Lou is a like some kind of a supermama, I have to say – she’s so relaxed but still so active and does so much, even though she’s only had her little girl for a few weeks! So lovely to see her, as always.

This week’s reading

  • Here’s Looking at You by Mhairi McFarlane* – I really enjoyed Mhairi’s debut (You Had Me At Hello) but HATED the ending (It made me angry. But it only made me angry because I loved the characters so much and didn’t think the ending was right for them at all.). So I was keen to read her next book, and I loved it! I wanted to read it again as soon as I finished it, which has got to be a good sign, right?
  • Mindfulness – I’m one week in to this eight week programme (the book comes with an accompanying CD or mp3 album), so technically I have only read 1/8 of this, but I’m enjoying what I’ve read so far, and have already found the techniques useful when I start to feel myself getting stressed at work or letting my mind fixate on problems.
  • The Luminaries – I’ve just started, but have heard lots of good things, so looking forward to this one
  • An interesting report on what makes a happy marriage (via Michelle)

This woman is so weird. I did break a sweat, but not sure if I’ll be doing one of hers again in a hurry…
