It’s no longer dry January, but if, like me, you might still be cutting down on your alcohol intake. I am always looking for alternatives that taste great and don’t make me feel as though I’m missing out on flavour. I’ve tried lots of different alcohol free beers (visit this post to see my favourites, and my other alcohol free staples), but I haven’t really come across much low alcohol wine. It just doesn’t seem to be that widely available. Then my husband, Peter, found that Torres, whose white wine, Viña Sol, we’ve bought many times, does a 0.5% muscat, called Torres Natureo.
So, of course we had to order it and give it a go! I was a bit wary, as muscat is usually super sweet, and when it comes to drinking something over the course of an evening, I prefer not to have anything too sugary. I have to say, this was quite a sweet wine. On its own, it’s not unpleasant to drink, but I definitely couldn’t drink more than a few sips. However, as a spritzer, with 1/3 wine and 2/3 soda water, it’s actually quite nice, with hints of citrus and elderflower. Quite a good discovery!
Available from ASDA, Waitrose and Ocado on MySupermarket (ASDA even have it in Rose!)
