6 Grain- and dairy-free recipes

So, I’ve been doing this gut makeover diet, which involves eating no grains, no dairy and no pulses. I will say now that I definitely don’t think I have an intolerance to any of those things, but it’s been interesting to see how my food planning has changed. I’ve been trying to fit in at least 7 fruit and vegetables a day, which doesn’t sound that much, but really can be some days! It’s been easy in some ways, and very hard in others. I’m going to write up a post about how it all went, but I will say that the main thing I struggled with was the food prep in the evening. I didn’t realise just how reliant I had become on pasta before I started the plan! On the plus side, it’s really made me step outside my comfort zone with meals over the last few weeks. It’s been great to try out different recipe ideas, and here are a few that caught my eye…

  1. Deep-dish shepherd’s pie with sweet potato and chicken curry
  2. Roasted chilli maple pork loin (serve with potato salad and mixed leaves)
  3. Sweet potato and pea fritters
  4. Spicy Thai sweet potato wedges
  5. Coriander lime chicken (serve with a big serving of broccoli and sweetcorn on the side)
  6. Chipotle honey-glazed lamb shoulder with layered potatoes

    It is very easy to become reliant on pasta isn’t it, it’s so quick and easy. We used to eat it once a week but now it less than once a month but it does mean you have to think carefully about your meals. I am a meal planner which helps ;).

      Meal planing is definitely so important. I usually leave it to the last minute, though. Not great!
